People with impairments or disabilities who want to attend the first night race under lights at the Martinsville Speedway on Saturday, September 23 are asked to RSVP by Thursday, September 14 to help with advance planning for the event.

The wheelchair sections are very accessible, but the big issue is parking and getting to the accessible spaces.

“Handicapped parking” is available but challenging and there is limited seating which is available on a first come first serve basis and track/seat availability.

The NASCAR Cup Race is October 29 and a truck race will be held October 28. Another reminder will be sent in October for those interested in attending those races.

Pamela C. Cobler, Ed.D., community advocate and grant facilitator (cell phone number 540-520-8468, email pcobler@drrcva.org) or Toni Lynn Mills, director of finance and operations at the Disability Rights & Resource Center in Rocky Mount (540-482-0752 or tmills@drrcva.org) can purchase the tickets and help with the cost of transportation. They cannot be responsible for coordinating everyone’s parking and schedules.
