Barbara Jean Rand Cockram

Mrs. Barbara Jean Rand Cockram, age 70 of Bassett, Virginia passed away at her home on Friday, September 2, 2022.   She was born in Presque Isle, Maine on December 23, 1951, to the late Weldon Wallace Rand and Norma Christina Lint Rand Langley.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by six siblings, Sonny Rand, Paul Rand, Donnie Rand, Diane Tarbox, Dana Rand, and Stephen Rand; and her stepfather, Clayton Langley.  Barbara enjoyed being a nurse, working in her flowers, making crafts, baking, and cooking.  She loved her family, especially being “Granni” to her grandchildren.

Mrs. Cockram is survived by her devoted husband of 45 years, David Leon Cockram; three children, Marcie Christina Horne, Noel Clayton Cockram, and Joshua Wayne Cockram; nine grandchildren, Nathan Horne, Jake Horne, Daniel Horne, Jimmy Horne, Shane Cockram, Ryan Greer, Brad Cockram, Riley Cockram, and Lilly Cockram; three siblings, Ronald “Slugger” Rand, Kitty Levasseur, and Tami Norsworthy, and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial gathering will be held on Saturday, September 10, 2022, from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Bassett Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 510, Bassett, Virginia 24055.  Online condolences may be sent by visiting www.moodyfuneralservices.com.
