Mrs. Barbara Joyce “Bobbie” Bowman Clement, 93, of Ararat, VA, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 9, 2026, at Surry Community Health Center by Harborview, following several months of declining health.  Mrs. Clement was born March 1, 1933, in Surry County, the daughter of the late Elmer Roosevelt and Nellie Lee Wilson Bowman.  She will be remembered as living a life filled with love and kindness for her family, friends, church family, and community.  Mrs. Clement was a lifelong member of the Presbyterian Church USA and taught Sunday school for many years.  Bobbie was also a founding member of the Patrick County Historical Society.  As a member of the Patrick County bicentennial celebration committee, she traveled to many places and homes to secure photographs of people and events representing Patrick County’s past, which can be found at the Patrick County Historical Museum.  She was a foster parent and cared for many other children in her home who became like family.  An avid genealogist, Bobbie was always eager to share photos and information with others seeking their family history.  She is survived by two daughters, Wanda Isaacs of Ararat, VA, and Joy Clement of Mount Airy; a son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Rhoda Clement of Claudville, VA; four grandchildren, Amelia Rautio (David), Clifford Isaacs (Amy), Matthew Clement, and Katherine Rewerts (Scott); five great-grandchildren, Claire Isaacs, Eden Isaacs, Adam Rautio, Alice Rewerts, and Ivy Rewerts; along with a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins whom she loved dearly.  She is also survived by a sister-in-law, Lottie Bowman of Ararat, VA; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Johnny and Mildred Clement of Stuart, VA; and special friends and caregivers, Trina Bullins and Kristin Mills.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Clement was preceded in death by her husband of 74 years, Romey Alexander “Rose” Clement; two sisters, Hazel Collins and Louise Eckenrod; and a brother, Clyde E. Bowman, Sr.  The funeral service will be held Friday, August 14, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Mark Collins officiating.  Interment will follow in the Clement Family Cemetery.  The family will receive friends Friday from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at the funeral home.  Following the interment, family and friends will meet and share a meal at The Fellowship Church in Ararat, VA.  The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude for the love, care, and compassion shown by the staff of Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care and Surry Community Health Center by Harborview.  Flowers will be accepted, or memorial contributions may be made to the Patrick County Historical Society, P.O. Box 1045, Stuart, VA  24171; the Clement Family Cemetery Fund, c/o James Clement, 6630 Ararat Highway, Ararat, VA  24053; or a charity of the donor’s choice.  Online condolences may be made at www.moodyfuneralservices.com.
