Bernice Stephens Hopkins, 91, passed away on Friday, June 21, 2024, at her home. She was born March 21, 1933, to the late Roy Stephens and Essie Ora Woodall Stephens. In addition to her parents Bernice is predeceased by her husband Howard Lee Hopkins; son, Allen Hopkins; sister, Stella Walton; brother, Billy Stephens; and half-brother, Reo Stephens.
Bernice was a member of Unity Missionary Baptist Church.
She is survived by her daughters, Marie Grogan (Norman) and Bonnie Covington (Joe); sons, Lloyd Hopkins (Linda), Mike Hopkins (Kaye), Raymond Hopkins (Mary Anne), Donnie Hopkins (Susan), and Ronnie Hopkins (Barbara); eighteen grand-children; twenty-six great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Harden Hopkins; sister-in-law, Hazel Hopkins; and daughter-in-law, Frances Hopkins.
A funeral service will be held Tuesday, June 25, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at Norris Funeral Services Stuart Chapel. The visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. prior to the service. Pastor Ed Hartman and Pastor Curt Ashley will be officiating the service. Burial will follow the service at Patrick Memorial Gardens, Stuart, VA.
