Mrs. Betty Jean Wright Baliles, age 81 of Stuart, passed away Sunday, July 14, 2019, at the Blue Ridge Therapy Connection in Stuart. She was born in Patrick County on April 4, 1938, to the late Ernest Arnold Wright and Virginia Estelle “Tootsie” Pilson Wright. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Jesse Williams. Mrs. Baliles was a faithful lifetime member of Buffalo Ridge Pentecostal Holiness Church where she served as secretary and treasurer for many years. She loved teaching in the Patrick County School System, which was her calling. She mostly taught kindergarten through second grade and had such an impact on those students she loved so much that many of them continued to come to visit her through the years. She was a devoted wife and mother.

Mrs. Baliles is survived by her husband of 55 years, Posey L. Baliles, Jr. of the home; a daughter, Ramona Leigh Baliles and husband, Sam Arnold of Bassett; two grandsons, Grayson Arnold and Nicholas Arnold, both of Radford; five siblings, Gerald M. Wright of Meadows of Dan, Judy Wright Williams of Stuart, Janet Wright Clodfelter and husband, Bruce of High Point, N.C., Linda Wright Byers and husband, David of Galax, Gary Stephen Wright and wife, Cindy of Bassett; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 18, 2019, at 11 a.m. at Buffalo Ridge Pentecostal Holiness Church with Pastor Kenneth Terry officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church beginning at 10 a.m. If desired, memorials may be made to the Buffalo Ridge Pentecostal Holiness Church, c/o Naomi Pilson, 202 Bob Kat Lane, Stuart, Va. 24171. Moody Funeral Home in Stuart is handling  the arrangements, and online condolences may be sent by visiting www.moodyfuneralservices.com.
