Betty Lou “Evelean” Lawson Gammons

Mrs. Betty Lou “Evelean” Lawson Gammons, age 85 of Westfield, North Carolina (formerly of Martinsville, Virginia) passed away on Saturday, September 23, 2023, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson, North Carolina. She was born in Patrick County on May 29, 1938, to the late Jesse Allen Lawson and Rachel Beasley Lawson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph E. Gammons; one son, Joey Allen Gammons; one sister, Patsy Willard; and one brother, Bennie Lawson. Evelean was a faithful member of Trinity Baptist Church in Westfield for over 50 years. She deeply loved and enjoyed her church, working in the church, her family (especially being Granny), and serving the Lord.

Left to cherish the memory of Mrs. Gammons are her daughter, Lisa Rogers and husband, Howie; two grandchildren, Meagan Lawson and husband, Andy and Dillon Rogers and wife, Shelby; three great-grandchildren, Jacob Lawson, Maggie Lawson, and Lane Rogers; brother, Jim Lawson and Sue Hall; sister-in-law, Brenda Lawson; and several nieces and nephews; and beloved dog, Chloe.

A funeral service for Mrs. Gammons will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 26, 2023, at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart with Pastor Tommy Nichols officiating. Burial will be private. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Tuesday afternoon at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Trinity Baptist Church, 1233 Collinstown Road, Westfield, NC 27053. Online condolences may be sent by visiting www.moodyfuneralservices.com.

The family would like to extend their sincere thanks and gratitude to Mountain Valley Hospice for all the care your staff rendered to Mrs. Gammons. You made her last days much brighter and comfortable. For that they are very grateful and appreciative.
