Beverly Gae Purcell Saville, 91, of Martinsville, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, February 16, 2016. She was born in the Stella community of Patrick County, Va., August 25, 1924 to the late George Everette and Lucy Campbell Purcell. She was married to Robert Edwin Saville, who preceded her in death December 21, 1983. She was also preceded in death by seven sisters and three brothers, Beady Purcell, Ida P. Boaz, Pansy P. Grady, Florence P. Ore, Eva P. Beck, Louise P. Carver, Claudia P. Young, L. Herman, F. Burton, and D. Worley Purcell.
She was graduated from Hardin Reynolds Memorial School and Gassaway Business School. She worked as a stenographer and bookkeeper for many years.
She was a member of Broad Street Christian Church, where she was active in the Heart in Hand Ministry and Christian Women’s Fellowship.
Surviving are her daughters, Merilyn Bremner of Martinsville, Vicki Bardsley of Charlotte, N.C.; two grandsons; five great-grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Friday at McKee-Stone Funeral Home in Martinsville with the Rev. John Fulcher officiating. Burial was in Roselawn Burial Park.
Memorial donations may be made in her memory to Broad Street Christian Church, 106 Broad Street, Martinsville, Va., 24112.
