Firefighters from the Stuart Volunteer Fire Department on Thursday, Nov. 12 responded to a structure fire at 111 Loblolly Lane in Stuart, just off Hill St.

Initial reports indicated an occupant may be inside the building, however, “Stuart Fire searched the residence and everyone was out” of the semi-abandoned home, according to a report from the scene.

According to social media reports, firefighter’s efforts were hampered by tights spaces and steep terrain near the home that was determined to be semi-abandoned.

The home did not have electricity or water service, according to a report from the scene.

The blaze is under investigation by the Virginia State Police.

In addition to the SVFD, crews from the Patrick Springs and Woolwine volunteer fire departments also responded, along with CCDF Rescue and the Patrick County Sheriff’s Office. (Contributed photo)
