Holy cow, Patrick County! We broke out of the thirties again.
Forty-two units of blood were collected with a goal of 43 units. That translates to helping as many as 126 people. Since January’s blood drive, there have been 349 equivalent blood units collected.
At the beginning of the drive when they told me that the goal for September was 43 units, I thought I heard a pin drop. It was the first time our goal was set to collect more than 40 units. Somebody at the American Red Cross had a lot of faith in the donors of Patrick County!
Thanks to all donors who took time out of their day to do their part to help others in need.
Dedicated volunteers working during the blood drive were Christine and Laura Citrano, Michelle Boyd, Patty Brunner, Judi Sanborn, Janice Axelson, Everett Rakes, and Patrick County’s beloved Jesse Mae Vernon (Everybody in Patrick County knows Jesse Mae). Thanks for all you do. I appreciate each and every volunteer.
Thank you to Norris Funeral Home, a long-time sponsor, for sponsoring this month’s blood drive. I can always count on Norris Funeral Home to support our community blood drive.
Next month’s scheduled sponsors are Farm Bureau Insurance and Wright’s NAPA Auto Parks, both long-time sponsors of the blood drive.
Next month’s blood drive is scheduled on Tuesday, October 4, at Rotary Field in the John D. Hooker Memorial Building from 12:30 to 6:30 p.m. Just remember the first Tuesday of every month.
Please consider giving blood. Make a difference in your life as well as others in need.
Thank you again, Patrick County, for making August blood drive a success.
Gene Stirewalt,
Patrick County Blood
Drive Coordinator
