Twenty-one units of blood were collected with a goal of 38.
We had two strikes against us this month. We were competing in the same space with a car dealer and we did not have a double-red machine available.
But thanks to all the donors who braved the chaos in the parking area to help others in need. We awarded one donor a 19-gallon pin, two donors with eight gallon pins, and two donors with three gallon pins. But know all donors are important and the Red Cross appreciates everyone who presents themselves to donate.
Dedicated volunteers working during the blood drive were Christine and Laura Citrano, Judi Sanburn, Pauline Tatum, Linda Smith, Noel Honeyman, Jesse Mae Vernon, Betty Holt, Patty Brunner and Everett Rakes. Thanks for all you do. All the volunteers work so well together and work hard to make your donation experience a pleasant one.
Thank you, Farm Bureau and Wright’s NAPA Auto Parts, both long-time sponsors, for sponsoring this month’s blood drive.
Thanks to our local radio station, WHEO, and local newspaper, The Enterprise, for providing public announcements of the monthly blood drive.
Next month’s scheduled sponsor is Caviness Trucking and Auto Repair, a second-year supporter of the blood drive.
That blood drive is scheduled on November 1 from 12:30 to 6;30 p.m. at Rotary Field in the John D. Hooker Memorial Building.
Please consider giving blood. Make a difference in your life as well as the lives of others.
