We had two strikes against us again this month. The blood drive was staffed with only five Red Cross staff, two less than usual, and we did not have a double-red machine available.
Thank you, Patrick County, for being so patient.
In spite of the drawbacks and thanks to the devotion of the faithful donors of Patrick County, there were 37 units of blood collected, meeting our goal of 37.
This month Robert Reynolds of Plantiques donated a hand-crafted live Christmas wreath, retail value of $65, to be given away to a lucky donor as a door prize. The winner of the Christmas wreath is Linda Roberts of the Fairystone area of Patrick County. Congratulations, Linda!
Dedicated volunteers working during the blood drive were Christine Citrano, Linda Smith, Noel Honeyman, Betty Holt, Patty Brunner and Everett Rakes. Please join me in welcoming back Michele Boyd after a very serious home accident and welcome a new volunteer, Mary Lou Hall. All the volunteers work so well together and work hard to make your donation-experience a pleasant one.
Thank you, Caviness Trucking and Auto Repair, a second-time sponsor, for sponsoring this month’s blood drive.
Next month’s scheduled sponsor is Up-Town Suites, located in the new/old George Building,
The next blood drive is scheduled on December 6, at Rotary Field in the John D. Hooker Memorial Building from 12:30 to 6:30 p.m.
Please consider giving blood. Make a difference in your life as well as in the lives of others.
Gene Stirewalt,
Patrick County Blood
Drive Coordinator
