The blood drive broke out of the thirties, again. Congratulations, Patrick County. That makes three months out of five that blood units collected exceeded 40 or more.
Forty-one units of blood were collected with a goal of 40. I truly believe Patrick County residents have the same goal as I have; and that is to collect an average of 40 or more blood units per month in 2016. We are certainly headed in that direction.
Thanks to all the donors who took time out of their day to do their part to help others in need. We awarded one first-time donor pin and one donor with a 12-gallon pin. But know all donors are important and the Red Cross appreciates everyone who presents themselves to donate.
Dedicated volunteers working during the blood drive were Christine and Laura Citrano, Judi Sanburn, Pauline Tatum, Linda Smith, Noel Honeyman, Michelle Boyd, Patty Brunner and Everett Rakes. Thanks for all you do. All the volunteers work so well together and work hard to make your donation experience a pleasant one.
Thank you to Keith Gunter of Rogers Realty and Auction, a first-time sponsor, for sponsoring this month’s blood drive. The Red Cross looks forward to a long friendship with Rogers Realty. Keith Gunter was a blood donor too! Stop by Keith’s new office location in the Hooker Building at Rotary Field to thank him for all he does for our community.
Thanks to On-the-Run Convenience Store for supplying all of our ice needs every month.
Next month’s scheduled sponsor is Billy Martin Racing and our local Subway, two long-time supporters of the blood drive. The blood drive will be held Tuesday, June 7 from 12:30 to 6:30 p.m. in the John D. Memorial Building at Rotary Field in Stuart.
Please consider giving blood. Make a difference in your life as well as the lives of others.
Thank you again, Patrick County, for making May’s blood drive a success.
