Duane VIA
Activities Coordinator
With the change of seasons, we have to change many of our activities. Our residents have been enjoying being able to go outside on the patio, sitting outside and visiting with one another and family members. We are now able to play games, exercise and have reminiscing activities outside.
We also have to end some of our residents’ favorite activities of the summer, such as tomato sandwiches, watermelon feasts, and going out to eat at Mabry Mill. Before we all know it, we will be complaining about the cold weather and possible snow.
This past week we celebrated the Independence of Mexico. We asked staff members to dress down in red, green and white to celebrate with our residents during a party for all. We enjoyed having snacks of chips, dips, drinks and non-alcoholic margaritas.
The residents enjoyed interacting with staff members and they all tried on and some wore sombreros during the party. Some staff members danced to the Mexican music for the residents. We all enjoyed having this time together and getting to interact with one another.
The residents enjoyed having a meal at a Stuart restaurant. They also went shopping last week. They love being able to go out and get their own personal items, snacks, clothing and sometimes gifts for loved ones.
Many of our residents are already shopping for Christmas gifts for their loved ones. They like to go and shop for their loved one as they once did and starting early is the best way to be able to get all their gifts by Christmas.
We are still looking for donations for our residents’ Christmas stockings. If you or your group would like to help in the donation, please call Dee Dee Via, at (276) 694-7161, extension 1804. We have always had our residents a stocking and a gift to open on Christmas morning.
