Spring is just around the corner! This winter hasn’t been so bad. We have had a few cold weeks, but for the most part, we’ve had a warm winter.

It’s hard to believe winter is almost over and spring will be marching in. I really don’t think that the residents of Blue Ridge have gotten cabin fever this winter, because on the really warm days we took them outside for fresh air.

With spring around the corner, we will be planning more activities for the patio. We love being able to get the residents outside in the sunshine and letting them get fresh air. We also like to play games and have small group activities on the patio.

With the change in the weather, we will be starting our greenhouse up for another year of planting. The residents really enjoy getting their hands in the dirt and seeing their seeds grow.

This past week, we went shopping and took some of our new residents. They really enjoyed being out in the community and being able to shop for themselves. Some of them aren’t from Patrick County or the surrounding counties. They are from another state or other parts of Virginia. We like to get them out and about so they can see our county and make new friends in the center.

Bus trips are a good way of getting residents to know other residents on different floors. We also went to a restaurant for lunch on March 9 to one of their favorite restaurants. When they see these trips on the calendar they let us know fast they want to go on the trip.

We are working on our annual Easter egg hunt which is planned for Saturday, April 15 from 10 a.m. to noon at Blue Ridge Therapy Connection and the Landmark Center. We will be inviting the community children to this event and we look forward to seeing everyone there. There will be more information to come in the next few weeks!

If you are interested in volunteering your time or talent please call Dee Dee Via at (276) 6947161, extension 1804. We would love having you join our Blue Ridge family.
