Blue Ridge residents had a wonderful time visiting with the community children on Halloween night. We had around 125 or more area children to visit with us.

There were so many different costumes and age groups who visited. They were all cute and some of the parents also dressed up with their children.

Many of our staff members and residents’ family members came by with their children to celebrate Halloween with us. We got to meet a lot of our residents’ grandchildren and great-grandchildren during trick or treat. Our residents love having children to visit their home. The residents often ask staff members about their children and they love to hear stories about our children and seeing pictures of them.  We will be celebrating Veterans’ Day with the children of Stuart Elementary School. Each year they invite us to celebrate Veterans’ Day with the children. Our veterans have a wonderful time and they are truly honored to be able to participate in their event.

We also are planning to start taking our veterans out on a bus trip to destinations where they decide to go. We will be finding this information out during our Veterans Club activity which we have started. We are honored to serve these men, because they have giving so much of themselves for us. We are blessed to have 29 veterans at Blue Ridge at this time. Our residents have been making Christmas ornaments, which we will be selling. We will be making different ornaments for sale until Christmas. Our residents love arts and crafts and making things to sell or to give to their family members, they take so much pride in their work and they love to see the end product.

This past week we made round wood ornaments. They got to choose their own stamp, and the choices were a deer, tree, Santa Claus and a rooster for a country Christmas theme tree. They were really proud of their ornaments. We have planned sleds, cupcakes, and using clear ornaments with different techniques for the inside. We are already booking entertainment for December.
