While going through some pictures, I came up on this one of clients of the Development Center and PARC Workshop at a Christmas party. They are special people and happy ones also. In my younger days, I did things at Christmas and visited them. It’s always a joy to see these special people.

The weather took a drastic change recently with temperatures falling, rain, high winds, lots of trees down in roads.

By morning, everything was normal.Hallelujah Harvest Night at the Patrick Springs Pentecostal Holiness Church was wonderful. The Gospel Hayride down Redemption Road was something everyone should see. Hot dogs, drinks, and chips were served by the young people, who did a great job and worked hard.

The cake walk was fun and I won a pumpkin cake, ate quite a bit and shared with my friends at Elizabeth’s Pizza. Around 400 attended and 300 people went on the Redemption Road Hayride.I was very saddened by the death of a precious lady, Paula Pendleton. Just the other day she gave me some beautiful clothes and I wore one outfit to church and Paula liked it. I’ll always remember how she could sing “God Walks the Dark Hills” so beautifully. Love and heartfelt sympathy go to the family. Keep them in your prayers.Neighbors Larry and Teresa enjoyed some camping and horseback riding and then came home to more work. Thanks to Larry for giving The Food Ministry a big box of green tomatoes. People loved them and were saying “fried green tomatoes” for supper.”

I guess the streets of Stuart were a bit crowded with around 2,000 people being there on Halloween night. Our neighborhood was quiet with the little trick or treat children coming by.I really enjoyed a visit from “Miss” Caroline Laprade and Chuck. It was a very nice surprise and I enjoyed it very much. I was saddened to learn that “Miss” Caroline’s brother had passed away. Keep them in your prayers. The soup kitchen is gearing up for a nice Thanksgiving dinner for all the clients. The garden is still producing and the potatoes are ready to dig. It’s a busy time.It was good to hear from my flower friend, Pauline Martin of Rocky Mount, N.C. She wrote about some snake tales. It was scary. I hope the man that got bit will be okay. Thanks to Van Rowe for all the pretty pumpkins he brought to the food ministry.

Thanks to the nice gentleman for bringing us two pickup loads of bread this week and another gentleman brought eggs, another blessing. It’s a busy time and I can’t find time to read my new book Mary Ann sent for my birthday—but it will soon be too cold to do things outside.Thought for the day: If you pray for me and I pray for you, God closes the distance between us two.Microwave cooking hint: a compact food which is more dense, such as a sweet potato, will take longer to microwave than a lighter-textured porous one, such as a cake.

HOT CHEDDAR DIP

Microwave power: medium-high

Time: 2-3 minutes

1 (11 ounce) can cheddar cheese soup, undiluated

1/8 tsp. ground oregano

2 Tbsp. catsup

1/2 tsp. garlic powder

corn chips

Combine all ingredients except the corn chips in a 1-quart casserole or glass bowl. Microwave, uncovered, at medium-high for 2 to 3 minutes. Stir 1 or 2 times during cooking. Serve hot with corn chips. Yield: 1 1/2 cups.

Food for thought – When you can’t sleep, don’t count the sheep, talk to the Shepherd. Once a friend told me when she couldn’t sleep she would keep saying, “Jesus, Jesus.” She also took her Bible to bed. I’ve tried it and it works.
