Book festival set to raise funds for Perry Family Scholarship

 Mayberry Book Festival, sponsored by The Perry Family Scholarship, will be hosted by the Mount Airy Museum of Regional History, 301 North Main Street, Mount Airy, N.C., on July 19, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. 

This event, held on the 3rd floor, is a fundraiser for the Perry Family Scholarship.

Admission is $8, and includes the book festival and museum. The festival will feature more than 30 regional authors, including Patrick County authors Bonnie Turner, Marsha Marcela, who wrote “Mr. Rigney.” 

Several workshops will be held, among them ‘Self-Publishing vs Traditional Publishing’ at 10:15 a.m., ‘Guided Creative Writing Contest’ at noon, and ‘Benedict the Bookworm’ Summer Reading Challenge at 1:15 p.m.

A children’s area also will be available. 

Thomas D. “Tom” Perry will release his new book, “Little Chicago: Murder In Mount Airy And The Surrounding Area,” with copies available for $15. The book also is available on Amazon in paperback, Kindle, and Audible.
