Martin Clark’s latest novel, The Substitution Order, has been announced as a finalist for the 2020 Library of Virginia’s People’s Choice Award in fiction.

“I’m grateful to be chosen as a finalist,” said Clark, a Patrick native and retired Circuit Court Judge. “Same as always, this book got its start in Patrick County, and once again I’m indebted to everyone here for their help, support and kindness. I’d certainly appreciate folks going online and voting for The Substitution Order.”

Selected by input from Virginia librarians and independent booksellers, the finalists represent the most-requested titles by Virginia authors in fiction and nonfiction published in the past year.

The Substitution Order appeared on several bestseller lists, and the audio version became Clark’s first national number one bestseller. The New York Times called the book “a great legal thriller” and selected it as an Editors’ Choice, and The Washington Post praised it as “ingenious.”

The winners will be chosen by votes from the public from among five finalists in each category. Readers may vote online by Aug. 31 at the Library of Virginia’s website at https://bit.ly/LVAPEOPLESCHOICE20.
