BRES selects Shepherd as DAR recipient

Kaden Joseph Shepherd has been named the 2020 Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) Youth Citizenship Award recipient for Blue Ridge Elementary School. In addition to the DAR Award, Kaden earned the President’s Education Award, Principal’s Award, Perfect Attendance Award and  Superintendent’s Award.

Kaden plays the trumpet in the elementary band, where he has  performed several solos and played for the BRES Veteran’s Day Assembly. Kaden is a  member of the Blue Ridge Challenge Club and Blue Ridge Jr Beta Club. Kaden placed first​ at the Virginia State Jr Beta Convention for science. 

He studies Taekwondo at Rutter’s Martial Arts, and has advanced to the level of red belt. He competes in martial art tournaments and has won several awards for his Taekwondo forms, Bo routine, and point sparring.

He also competed and placed in the  school level 4-H talent show as well as county level 4-H talent show this year. 

Kaden is a member of Stuart United Methodist Church. He loves to read and study about  history. He especially loves to read and study his Bible. Kaden Shepherd is the son of Chuck and Stacey Shepherd.
