Calvin Robert Boyd, Sr., age 71 passed away December 12, 2020 at the Roanoke Memorial Hospital. He passed peacefully from my heart to God’s loving arms; pain free once again, home with his family that have been waiting for him. He was preceded in death by his father, Abe Dan Boyd, mother, Minnie Brammer Boyd Austin, brother, Troy Lee Boyd and stepfather, James Austin.

Calvin served in Vietnam in the Marine Corp. as a helicopter door gunner. He was proud of his service and country. But most of all he loved his family and friends and tried to treat everyone with respect. Calvin attended Aldersgate United Methodist Church in Pulaski. He will be deeply missed but we will see him again one day thanks to God’s son Jesus.

Calvin is survived by his wife of 42 years – Patricia McNamee Boyd – Pulaski, daughter – Laura Boyd (Brad) Duncan – Pulaski, son – Calvin Robert (Kelly Askew) Boyd, Jr. – Pulaski. His grandchildren and the loves of his life – Mekinsey Smith, Ella Duncan, Olivia Duncan, Wyatt Duncan, Trevor Boyd and Avery Ann Duncan “arriving in June”, sisters – Dorothy Foard & Dicky Demarr – Leonardtown, MD, Brenda Hooper – Pulaski, sister-in-law – Kathy Boyd – Pulaski, many nieces and nephews, special friend – Anthony Smith and his companion and shadow, his dog – Jessie Jane.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM – Thursday, December 17, 2020 at the Bower Funeral Home – Chapel, Pulaski with Pastor Becky Wheeler officiating. Interment will follow at the Southwest Virginia Veteran’s Cemetery, Dublin.

The family will receive friends one hour before service time Thursday at the funeral home. Please wear face covering and practice physical/social distancing. To sign Calvin’s online guestbook, please visit www.bowerfuneralhome.com

Bower Funeral Homes, Pulaski is handling the arrangements for the family.
