Candace A. Korzenko, 77, of Stuart, Virginia, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer on February 20, 2025. Surrounded by family, Candy proudly wore her Celtic cross as she crossed over to be reunited withher late husband, Stanley Joseph Korzenko.

Born June 4, 1947, in Norwalk Connecticut to the late Cornelius O’Marra and Agnes Moriarty O’Marra,

Candy grew up to be a lover of nature, art, travel and animals. She nurtured the world around her through her art, gardening, and culinary talents. Her arms and heart were open for whomever needed love, and her house never ran out of room for a stray four-legged friend. She was a nurturer by nature, and everyone loved her for it. To quote a dear friend, “Candy was a very special lady, like no other”. She was always a free spirit, and during her 77-year life she stayed true to herself, even as that sense of self evolved. Candy was not only a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother but also a published writer, a Virginia Master Gardener, and an accomplished artist. She will forever be a central pillar for her children and grandchildren.

Candy is survived by her five children: Karen Sama (Jim Logan), John Taggart (Jennifer), Catherine Taggart (Elaine Grehn), Paul Taggart (Samantha), and Heather Richards (Bill Brague); her siblings: Maureen Phipps (Dave), Sue Piskura (Jim), Dayle McBreairty (John), Cornelius O’Marra, and Agnes Chamberland; 10 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Private services will be held at a later date.

Wright Funeral Service and Crematory are serving the family. Online condolences may be made at www.wrightfuneralservices.net.
