Perfect weather greeted runners and walkers of all ages at the start line for the annual Caring Hearts for Healthy Soles 10K/5K Fitness Walk held February 20.
There was something for everyone: music for a warm-up, a 5k run or walk and, for the enthusiast, the 10K run. When the horn sounded, over 40 participants left the starting block and headed for the highs and lows of the streets of Stuart. The event was hosted by Caring Hearts Free Clinic for the third consecutive year and proved, once again, to be a huge success.
Crossing the 10K finish line in spectacular fashion were: overall winner and first place male, David Warren (42m 2s); and first place female, Susan Heath (51m 56s).
The second place finishers were Mark Joyce (43m 27s) and Donna Martin (1:02:55). Third place male and female finishers were Brad Holt (43m 39s) and Beth Barton (1:18:18).
Masters Winner was Jerry Burge (52m 55s). Fin the 30-39 age group was Jonathan Adcock (43m 52s). First in the 40-49 age group was David Martin (54m 42s).
5K Overall winners included: first place to Clay Meniere (31m 8s); second place, Liz Warriner (31m 47s); and third place, Rodney Holt (33m 10s).
Sweetheart awards went to first place runners Donna and Doug Martin. Second place runners were Debora and Rodney Holt; and third place runners were Jeanette and Danny Redman.
Special recognition went to the youngest participants, four-year olds Savannah Fain and Asher Vaughn.
Caring Hearts Free Clinic extends gratitude to everyone involved in making this event a success. Without the support of sponsors, board of directors, the volunteers, local businesses, the Stuart Fire Department and Boy Scout Troop (Woolwine) this event would not have been possible.
Thank you for your continued support as we work to serve the medically uninsured residents of Patrick County.” said Christie Fain, executive director. “A special thank you goes to Rebecca Adcock for all the hard work put forth towards planning this event.
Pictures from the event can be found on the clinic’s Facebook page as well as on the website www.caringheartsclinic.org.
