Caring Hearts Free Clinic finished its first “Share Your Heart with Pasta” fund-raiser on February 13. Executive director Christie Fain said, “We could not be more pleased with the overwhelming response we received.”
A total of 244 meals were distributed by the end of the night. Fain said the clinic exceeded its expectations and goals. “All of this would not have been possible without the love and support from individuals in the community by purchasing meals,” she continued.
The fundraiser was a “drive and dine” style where diners pre-ordered meals ahead of time, then picked them up from the front entrance of The Landmark Center. The average driver waited less than 3 minutes, and didn’t have to leave his or her car.
Rotary Club of Stuart also purchased 66 meals on the night of the fund-raiser. The club chose the meal as its annual Valentine’s Dinner for members and significant others. Rotary also presented Fain and Jane Carlson, chairman of the Caring Hearts board of directors, with a monetary donation.
Caring Hearts wishes a special thank you to Blue Ridge Therapy Connection for presenting and planning the event. “Numerous people deserve praise for planning, organizing, and preparing the fundraiser and delicious meal,” Fain said.
“Caring Hearts appreciates the support of our local partners who help build connections in the wider community and also help enhance the lives of the individuals we aid,” Fain continued.
“We could not continue to serve the uninsured patients without generous people such as yourselves. Each person is such an important piece of the puzzle. By purchasing the meal, everyone helped the clinic be able to continue providing medical care to the uninsured residents of Patrick County. We sincerely thank you for this donation!” Fain said.
