Carl Danny Shelhorse Sr. was born on June 27, 1949 to the late George Shelhorse and Ava Lee Lawless. Carl lived in Patrick Springs and passed away on April 23, 2019 at the Sovah Health Memorial Hospital in Martinsville. In addition to his parents both maternal and paternal, he was preceded in death grandparents, a brother, Lee Shelhorse; sister, Olivia Hams; stepbrother, Raymond Lawless, and a grandson, Randall McCoy. Carl was survived by a son, Carl Danny Shelhorse Jr. of Reidsville, N.C; a daughter and son-in-law, Tina and Joey Sutliff of North Carolina; a sister and brother-in-law, Victoria (Vicky) and Sammie Cassell of Bassett; two step-sisters, Freeda Haskins of South Carolina and Almeida Mullins of Patrick Springs; a step-brother and step-brother-in-law, Allen and Barbra Lawless of North Carolina; two grandsons, Casey Foster and Justin Latham of North Carolina; three granddaughters, Elizabeth, Stephaine and Heather Foster of North Carolina; three great-grandchildren of North Carolina; a special nephew and care taker, Jake, and numerous nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
A memorial service for friends and family will be held on May 5 at 4 p.m. at the home of Victoria (Vicky) and Sammie Cassell, located at 6312 Stones Dairy Rd. Bassett, Va. 24055. Another memorial service will be held at a later date for just the family. The family is asking for a covered dish to be brought on May 5 after the service. The family is asking for any donations instead of flowers, to help with the funeral and other expenses.
