Carroll County Genealogy Club to meet April 19

The threat of bad weather once again canceled the Carroll County Genealogy Club meeting in March. The April meeting  will be on Wednesday, April 19 at 6 p.m. in the club library in the Historic Courthouse in Hillsville.

At this meeting the election for officers will take place, discussions will be held on replacing the copier and which days the library will be open. Members are asked to consider volunteering to keep the club library open once a week, once a month or however often they can help.

The library will be open only on Wednesdays for the near future from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. An announcement will be made after the April meeting as to the additional days the library will be open.

The most recent addition to the club library is a  book on “The Lundy Family and Their Descendants of Whatever Sir Name,” with a biographical sketch of Benjamin Lundy by William Clinton Armstrong. Armstrong traces the family history of Sylvester Lundy of Axminster, England, “the only know ancestor in the Lundy line who lived and died in the Old World” to the early 1900s here in the United States. Armstrong’s interest in the Lundy family stems from the fact that he is a descendant of Sylvester Lundy.

Stay in touch with club activities using the club  Facebook page and the Friends of Carroll County Genealogy Club website.
