Fiddling Carson Peters, an amazingly talented 12-year-old musician from Piney Flats, Tenn., will take the stage this Saturday, Nov. 19, at the Patrick County Music Association’s concert at Rotary Field.
Since picking up the fiddle at age 3, Peters has been on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno,” “Little Big Shots with Steve Harvey,” and made numerous appearances at the Grand Ole Opry.
Carson Peters now plays with the band Iron Mountain, which consists of Carson’s father, guitar player Jamie Peters; banjo player Eric Marshall and his son, 15-year-old bass player Ben Marshall of Mount Airy, N.C.; and mandolin player Austin Tate, age 17, of Marion.
Carson said that winning trophies and getting your name in the paper is “really cool” but that’s not the main reason he works so hard at his music. “It’s all about using the talent God gave me to make people smile!” he said.
Carson Peters and Iron Mountain are scheduled for what was The Marshall Brothers’ spot at 7:30 p.m., though Eric and Ben Marshall are joining Carson as part of Iron Mountain.
The doors open at 4:30 p.m., and the on-stage open jam starts at 5. First on the roster is Lone Ivy String Band, followed by Narrow Road. The 4-H Shooters Club will offer food for sale.
