Summer’s warm air and long days hail graduating seniors and much-needed vacations help to set the theme for this summer’s Chamber Music Recital.

Entitled “Going Places,” the concert begins at 3 p.m. on Sunday, June 11 in Patrick Henry Community College’s Walker Fine Arts Theatre on the Martinsville campus.

Concert goers may indulge their wanderlust with a menagerie of pieces celebrating distant lands, different cultures, and daring adventures, as the Chamber Music Ensemble – a company of professional, collegiate, and community musicians – perform traditional folk songs and cultural classics from Ireland, Brazil, Hungry, Armenia, and more.

“We are delighted to bring music from around the world to Martinsville,” said Deborah Burgess coordinator of the ensemble. “We will have such a mix – from a tango to an Irish jig, from Brahms to Khatchaturian. We are playing something for almost every musical taste. It should be a fun afternoon.”

Tickets will be available at the door. Prices are $10 for adults; $5 for students.

For more information call PHCC at (27) 638-8777.
