Mr. Charles Major Bowman “Hoss”, age 75 of Lawsonville, North Carolina passed away at Novant Forsyth Medical Center on Tuesday, February 28, 2023. He was born in Bassett, Virginia on January 19, 1948, to the late Hampton Edgar Bowman and Mattie Virginia Nunn Bowman. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Hilda Robertson Bowman; one brother, Wayne Bowman “Skip”; and one son-in-law, Jimmy Lawson. Charles was a member of Mayo Mountain Christian Church, a true prayer warrior, and a Christian. He was a decorated Vietnam War veteran serving in the United States Army. He retired after many years of service from R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company. He will be remembered as a loving husband, Daddy, Papa, brother, uncle, and friend, who loved fast cars and spinning tires.

Mr. Bowman is survived by three children, Kimberley Lawson of Lawsonville, NC, Kevin Bowman (Denise) of Ararat, VA, and Leandra Tilley (Tommy) of Lawsonville; two step-children, Brandy McMillian and Jason McMillian, both of Dobson, NC; seven granddaughters, Kayla Lawson, Heather Heath (Bradley), Kara Lawson, Krista Lawson (Jason), Nikki Frye (Austin), Allea Tilley, and Emme Tilley; six step-grandchildren; six great-grandchildren, Maddox Frye, Landon Frye, Kingston Payne, Anna Kate Heath, Lorelai Frye, and Kinsley Payne; one brother, Clarence Bowman (Joann) of Lexington, NC, one sister-in-law, Lorna Bowman of Stuart; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends.
