Charlie “Junior” Martin, 70, of Collinsville, died Thursday, July 7, 2016, at his home.
He was born in Bassett on October 29, 1945, and was a son of the late Charlie Reed Martin and the late Della Spencer Martin. He was also preceded in death by his first wife of 53 years, Gerline Sue Moore Martin, and a brother, William Martin.
He was a member of the Peoples Church of the Living God and had worked at J. D. Bassett and American Furniture for 35 years.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Witt Edmonds Martin; two daughters, Cathy Martin of Martinsville and Nancy Brumfield of Roanoke; two sons, Danny Martin of King, N.C. and Terry Martin of Bassett; a stepson, Shannon Edmonds of Patrick Springs; ten grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; three brothers, Otis Martin of Siler City, N.C., Donald Martin of Liberty, N.C. and Bobby Martin of Asheboro, N.C.; and one sister, Carolyn Smith of Liberty, N.C.
The funeral service was held Monday in the Peoples Church of the Living God with Bishop Dwayne Pruitt officiating. Burial was in the Mill Creek Missionary Baptist Church cemetery.
