After closely monitoring the COVID-19 situation in Patrick County and surrounding areas, One Family Productions, which organizes the event, deemed it appropriate to cancel the 49th annual Patrick County Christmas Parade.

Initially, the organization hoped to offer an innovative variation of the traditional parade, but the increase in COVID-19 diagnoses in the region prompted organizers to reevaluate the feasibility of holding the event.

In a social media post on November 29, the parade was cancelled, along with the announcement that One Family Productions “always has the community’s best interest in mind

and wants to put Patrick County’s health and well-being first. Stay healthy, stay close to home, and celebrate safely.”

The parade committee will donate proceeds from parade to the Shop With a Cop program, organized through the Patrick County Sheriff’s Office in partnership with the Department of Game and Inland Fisheries and Virginia State Police. The organization also encourages others to support that program.

One Family Productions also will explore ways to safely contribute to the holiday celebrations in Patrick County and fundraise further for Shop With a Cop. Follow Patrick County Christmas Parade on Facebook.
