Mayberry and Bluemont Presbyterian Churches are combining to offer a week-long, faith-based day camping experience for both mountaintop children and those from surrounding communities.
This day camp adventure, led by an experienced director and counselors, is provided by the Outdoor Ministries Team from the Presbytery of the Peaks. The camp will be held Monday-Friday, June 26-30, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. It will be held in Mayberry Church’s new community outreach building. Both the church and the outreach building are located just off the Blue Ridge Parkway at milepost 180 in Meadows of Dan.
The camp is free to children ages 5-12. All snacks, drinks, and lunches will be provided without charge.
Camp will open each day with an “opening circle” introducing the theme and Bible story for the day. Following that, campers can look forward to arts and crafts, nature walks, camp songs, group building games, exploration of local natural areas, and many other fun activities—all provided in a safe Christian environment.
At the end of the week, camper’s families and church members are invited to a closing program—a chance to hear about the children’s adventures, thank the volunteers, and reflect on how they have grown in stature and in faith.
To register or to learn more about the camp, contact Mayberry’s day camp coordinator, Monica Morgan at (336) 450-7043. Registration will be limited to (approximately) the first 30 enrollees, so registration action by June 1 would be greatly appreciated.
Once registered, an information packet—containing the official registration form, health questionnaires, daily drop-off and pick-up routines, and more—will be sent for completion and further instructions.
