According to Clerk of Court Susan Gasperini, the following cases were tried in Patrick County Circuit Court during October:
• James Daniel Biggs, Stuart, charged with driving with a suspended license, sentenced to 90 days, conditionally suspended except for 10 days, assessed $500 fine and costs, operator’s license revoked 90 days; charged with possession of a schedule I or II substance with intent to distribute, sentenced to 5 years, suspended, operator’s license revoked for six months, assessed costs; charged with possession of a firearm while in possession of a schedule I or II controlled substance, sentenced to 5 years, conditionally suspended, assessed costs, firearm forfeited to the Commonwealth; charged with possession of a controlled substance, sentenced to 5 years, conditionally suspended, shall complete the Diversion Center Program, assessed costs, operator’s license revoked for six months.
• Denice Lawless Beasley, Stuart, charged with trespassing, fined $500 with $400 suspended, ordered to not go on premises of any Walmart store; assessed fines.
• Michael Wayne Davis, Stuart, charged with statutory burglary, complied with conditions, case dismissed.
• Kimberly Ann Greer, Henry, charged with shoplifting, found guilty of misdemeanor shoplifting, sentenced to 12 months, all suspended except 90 days, assessed $300 fine and costs; charged with trespassing, sentenced to 12 months, suspended, assessed costs.
• Robby Grona, Patrick Springs, charged with probation violation, sentenced to five months, revoked, assessed costs.
• Rosemary Virginia Hart, Roanoke, charged with possession of a schedule I or II controlled substance, found guilty of unlawful possession of paraphernalia, fined $250 and assessed costs.
• Jonathan Michael Haas, Meadows of Dan, charged with two counts of grand larceny, complied with conditions, both cases dismissed.
• Barry Lynn Helms, Patrick Springs, charged with DUI, second offense, sentenced to 60 days with 40 days suspended, fined $800 with $300 suspended, operator’s license revoked for three years, must attend Virginia Alcohol Safety Program (ASAP), assessed costs; charged with larceny of a firearm, found not guilty.
• Alicia Marie Jarvis, Ararat, charged with failure to report accident, case dismissed.
• Christopher Johnson, Cana, charged with grand larceny, sentenced to 10 years, all suspended except one year and three months, fined $500 and assessed costs.
• Fletcher Dernard Millner, Martinsville, charged with probation violation, revoked nine months, assessed costs.
• Derek Lee Moore, Martinsville, charged with sale of a schedule I or II controlled substance, sentenced to 10 years, all suspended except three years and six months, fined $500 and assessed costs, operator’s license revoked for six months, restitution; charged with three additional counts of sale of a schedule I or II controlled substance, sentenced to 10 years on each count, all suspended, fined $500 on each count and assessed costs and restitution.
• Amanda Michelle Nester, Patrick Springs, found guilty of welfare fraud and sentenced to 12 months, all suspended except for 30 days, assessed costs and restitution; found guilty on four additional counts of welfare fraud, sentenced to 12 months on all four counts, all conditionally suspended, all assessed costs and restitution.
• Gary Wayne Nester, Patrick Springs, found guilty of welfare fraud and sentenced to 12 months, all suspended except 30 days, assessed costs and restitution.
• Jennifer Dawn Oast, charged with two counts of receiving stolen property, nolle prossed.
• Sarah Padgett, Stuart, charged with failure to appear in court, found not guilty.
• Zachariah Kurt Robinson, Stuart, charged with probation violation, court revoked seven months, assessed costs.
• William Daniel Rogers, Bassett, charged with probation violation, court revoked one year, assessed costs.
• Joseph Sobolewski, Stuart, charged with grand larceny, nolle prossed on motion of the Commonwealth.
• Jennifer Marie Stone, Patrick Springs, charged with grand larceny, found guilty of petty larceny, sentenced to 12 months, all suspended except 10 days, assessed costs and restitution; charged with two counts of contempt of court, sentenced to 10 days in jail for each count, assessed costs.
• Laura Nicole Sutphin, Stuart, charged with failure to appear in court, case dismissed.
• Tina Marie Teague, Stuart, charged with probation violation, court revoked six months, assessed costs.
• James Clifford Tilley, Stuart, charged with two counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor, both dismissed.
• William Cole Trent, Spencer, charged with two counts of grand larceny, complied with conditions on both counts, both dismissed.
• Joseph John Williams, Spencer, charged with probation violation, court revoked two years and three months, assessed costs.
• Jonathan Wilson, Stuart, charged with failure to appear in court, found not guilty.
