Four Surry Community College employees were presented awards during the Fall Semester 2020 Update Meeting for full-time faculty and staff. Traditionally, the meeting is an in-person luncheon. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the meeting and awards were presented virtually via Microsoft Teams.
Melonie Weathers, the Director of Human Resources, received the Distinguished Staff Award. The President’s Award for Meritorious Service was presented to Melissa Recknor, Director of Student Success and Academic Advising.
Doug Slate, Lead Instructor – Mechatronics / IST, was awarded the Excellence in Teaching Award. The President’s Award for Meritorious Teaching was given to Dr. Gopal Sapkota, Physics Instructor.
Each award recipient received a plaque along with a monetary gift from the Surry Community College Foundation.
