Kayla Collins and her family, creators of a Hay Bear decoration, recently received a trophy and voted Convention Favorite at the Virginia Farm Bureau Annual Convention & Meeting of Voting Delegates at the Greenbrier Resort for her entry in the statewide 2022 Hay Bale Decorating Contest.

Collins and her family live in the Russell Creek community of Patrick County, and previously won the local 2022 Patrick County Farm Bureau Hay Bale Decorating Contest.

County Farm Bureau leaders gathered for the annual meeting of Voting Delegates, which helps shape VFBF state and federal policies for the coming year. Speakers included Matthew Lohr, Virginia Secretary of Agriculture and Forestry; Andrew Walmsley, American Farm Bureau Federation senior director of public affairs; and VFBF President Wayne F. Pryor and Gov. Glenn Youngkin addressed the hundreds of farmers at the Virginia Farm Bureau Federation Annual Convention about the two industries.

For eight years, the Virginia Farm Bureau Federation Women’s Leadership Committee has encouraged communities across Virginia to highlight their love for farming and celebrate agriculture through creative displays.

Kayla Collins and her family were awarded a trophy for their hay bale decoration.

With 133,000 members in 88 county Farm Bureaus, VFBF is Virginia’s largest farmers’ advocacy group. Farm Bureau is a non-governmental, nonpartisan, voluntary organization committed to supporting Virginia’s agriculture industry. Please join this growing organization, locally contact Betsy Conner, PC Farm Bureau office 276-694-7108.
