Wednesday, Sept. 8

The Patrick County Planning Commission will hold a public hearing at 6:30 p.m. in the Patrick County Memorial Building 3rd floor Board Room. 

 

Thursday, Sept. 9

The Patrick County School Board will meet at 5:30 p.m. in the Patrick County High School Auditorium. 

 

Friday, Sept. 10

The Woolwine United Methodist Mobile Food Pantry will be at the Woolwine Volunteer Fire Department from 3 to 5 p.m. 

 

Friday, Sept. 10 – Sunday, Sept. 12

The Remnant House invites all to Awakening Tent Services; 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday; 10:45 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. on Sunday at 901 Clark House Farm Road, Stuart.

 

Saturday, Sept. 11

The Stokes County Arts Council and the Town of Danbury will host the 47th annual Stokes Stomp Festival on the Dan along the banks of the Dan River from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. The event will kick off with the annual Stokes Stomp Parade through Danbury starting at 10 a.m. Anyone wishing to participate in the parade should contact the Town of Danbury at 336-593-2002. Antique and classic cars, parade floats, etc. are welcome. The Stomp will feature heading music form the 208th Army Band and other music will be played at the main stage. Arts and crafts demonstrations will be held throughout Moratock park. 

 

The 19th Annual Ken Adams Memorial Patrick County Toy Run to benefit the Patrick County Christmas Cheer Program will be held at the Fairy Stone Volunteer Fire Department. Registration starts at 11 a.m. and the ride will leave at 1 p.m. There is an entry fee of $10 to join the ride. There will be a 50/50 drawing, door prizes, and hotdogs available to all riders. The event is open to all types of cars, motorcycles, and trucks.

 

The Woolwine Volunteer Fire Department will host the 14th annual Car, Bike, & Tractor Show. Check in starts at 8 a.m. and judging starts at 11 a.m. classes include car/truck, bike, and tractor. Fee is $15 per entry. Call for multi-car discount. For more information, call Eddie at 276-692-5820 before 4 p.m. or David at 276-930-1339 after 4 p.m. 

 

Sunday, Sept. 12

The 45th Hughes Family Reunion will be held at the Hughes Family Picnic Shelter located on Trot Valley Road. A covered dish lunch will be served at 1 p.m. after a brief business meeting. Drinks and paper products will be provided. Masks are optional. For further information, call 276-692-5507.

 

The Reynolds Homestead will host a Jazz on the Lawn from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. with performances by jazz quintet Five Brothers. 

 

Monday, Sept. 13

The Patrick County Board of Supervisors will meet at 6 p.m. in the Patrick County Administration Building 3rd floor board room.

 

Tuesday, Sept. 14

The Patrick County Crime Watch meeting will be at 7 p.m. at the Patrick Henry Fire Department. Sheriff Dan Smith will discuss office operations and changes in the past year.

 

Thursday, Sept. 16

The Ararat Ruritan Club will host a “paper” flower making class. The class will begin at 6 p.m. and all materials will be provided. Anyone who would like to participate should call Pamela Smith at 276-229-6931 or email AraratRuritanClub@gmail.com to pre-register. Pre-pay $20 via PayPal.me/AraratRuritanClub.
