Saturday, Nov. 27

The Stuart Parks & Rec Association will be hosting a Drive Thru Dinner at Rotary from 4-7 p.m. Your choice of clam chowder or pinto beans and corn bread with desserts.

 

The Stuart Parks & Recreation Association will host a Benefit Bingo at Rotary. Doors open at 6 p.m.; games and door prizes begin at 7 p.m.

 

Tuesday, Nov. 30

The Ararat Ruritan Club will host the American Red Cross for a Blood Drive from 2-7 p.m. To schedule an appointment, call Kevin Smith at (276) 229-6493 or go to www.redcross.org. Walk-ins are also welcome.

 

Wednesday, Dec. 1

The Meadows of Dan Community Center will host a Blood Drive from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

 

Saturday, Dec. 4

The Mistletoe Market at the Stuart Farmers Market will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Come shop locally made and produced items for all your holiday needs. Vendors will have holiday décor, baked items, meats, eggs, cheese, and one-of-a-kind gifts.

 

The Meadows of Dan Women’s Club will hold a bingo night at the Meadows of Dan Community Center. Doors open at 5 p.m. and the games start at 6 p.m. There will also be raffle drawings, and concessions will be available. For more information, call 276-952-2674 or 276-952-6395.

 

Monday, Dec. 6

The Blue Ridge Regional Library Patrick County branch will host a Christmas Pine Wreath Making class at 3:30 p.m. Registration is required. Call (276) 694-3352 to reserve a spot.

 

Tuesday, Dec. 7

Patrick & Henry Community College (P&HCC) will hold a dedication event for its training facility in Patrick County. The event will take place at 2 p.m. at 221 Wood Brothers Drive (the former Food Lion Building) and will be followed by a brief reception and a tour of the facility.

 

Wednesday, Dec. 8

The Patrick County Economic Development Authority (EDA) will meet at 7 p.m. in the Patrick County Veterans Memorial Building in the third-floor board room.

 

Saturday, Dec. 11

The Ararat Ruritan Club will hold its monthly Jackpot Bingo at 6 p.m. Cost is $20 for 20 games, coveralls are $5 each plus door prizes and concessions. Each game pays out $50 with the cover-all payout at $150 if not won in 54 draws. This month’s jackpot is $1,100 if the coverall is won within 54 draws. Doors open at 4:30 p.m. with concessions including hotdogs, chips, candy, soft drinks, and bottled water.

 

Wednesday, Dec. 15

The Patrick County Food Bank will hold a distribution from 8:30 to 11 a.m. in Stuart and Ararat and from 5 to 6:30 p.m. in Stuart and Meadows of Dan.

 

Friday, Dec. 17

The Ararat Ruritan Club will host a “Red Truck” canvas painting class at 6 p.m. There are only 16 spots available. Cost of the class is $20. Pre-registration is required. Email AraratRuritanClub@gmail.com or call (276) 229-6931 to register or for more information.

The Coffee Break Café hosts live music every Tuesday from 9 to 11 a.m. You can bring an instrument and join in, or just come and listen.

 

The Patrick County Library will hold story time with Ms. Gayle at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesdays, with books, songs, finger plays, and more. For more information, call (276) 694-3352.

 

Operation Christmas Child will hold a collection week from Nov. 15 to Nov. 22 with Minnie’s Chapel and Meadows of Dan Baptist Church serving as drop-off collection sites. Items can be dropped off at Minnie’s Chapel from Monday, Nov. 15 to Friday, Nov. 19 from 6-8 p.m., 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday Nov. 20, 1-4 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 21, and 8-10 a.m. on Monday Nov. 22. Items can be dropped off at Meadows of Dan Baptist Church from Monday, Nov. 15 to Wednesday, Nov. 17 from 2-4 p.m., 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 18 and Friday, Nov. 19, 1-3 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 21, and 9-11 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 22.

 

Patrick & Henry Community College (P&HCC) will hold a hybrid (virtual and in-person) Heavy Equipment Operator – Level One class from December 11 to April 23 every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The course is 40 course hours online and 32 lab hours. For more information, call (276) 656-0260.

The Patrick County Branch’s Library Bookmobile offers trunk-side service only until further notice at the locations, dates, and times listed below:

Monday, Nov. 29:

Stuart Elementary School, 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Tuesday, Nov. 30:

Patrick Springs Primary School, 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Wildwood Acres – Off 694, 2 p.m. to 2:15 p.m.

Wednesday, Dec. 8:

Ararat Fellowship Church, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Trinity Christian School, 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m.

Thursday, Dec. 2:

Blue Ridge Elementary School, 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Trinity Christina School, 1:45 to 2:45 p.m.
