Monday, April 11 – Friday, April 15

Stuart Baptist Church will be hosting Holy Week Services starting at 12 p.m. daily. There will be a different speaker for each service and the Patrick County High School Praise Team will be singing during Friday’s service. A light lunch will be served after each service.

 

Wednesday, April 13

The Patrick County Community Food Bank will hold a food distribution day at the Stuart site from 8:30-11 a.m. and from 5-6:30 p.m. There will be a morning distribution in Ararat from 8:30-11 a.m., and an evening distribution in Meadows of Dan from 5-6:30 p.m.

 

Thursday, April 14

The Ararat Ruritan Club will host the American Red Cross Blood Drive from 1-6 p.m. To schedule your appointment, call (276) 229-6493, or sign up online at redcross.org. Walk-ins are also welcome. Everyone who donates blood will get an extra coverall ticket for the following Saturday’s bingo, a FREE Red Cross T-shirt and be registered to win an Ararat Ruritan Club cookbook.  The club building is located at 4711 Ararat Highway in Ararat, VA.

 

Thursday, April 14 – Friday, April 15

The Blue Ridge Regional Library will be giving away free easter baskets at all branches to celebrate Easter. The baskets are for those 10 and under and the child must be present at pick-up.

 

LifeSpring will present Pamlyn Grove, Director of Preserving Life Ministries, as she shares her expertise in multiple methods of food preservation. The event will be held from 6-8:30 p.m. For more information, call Betty Dean at 276-694-4775.

 

Friday, April 15

The Woolwine Methodist Church will hold a Stations of the Cross: A devotional self-guided walk with Jesus through nine stations anytime between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m.

 

Saturday, April 16

Raven Rock Wesleyan Church invites everyone to an Egg Hunt and Hot Dog Lunch beginning at 10:30 a.m. Come out, bring your basket, and enjoy a fund morning with food and lots of activities. Contact Scott or Nann Phillips at (276)-773-6004 or pastor@ravenrockchurch.org for more information. 

 

The Fairystone Volunteer Fire Department will hold a Country Breakfast from 6:30-10 a.m. Dine-in prices are $8 for an adult plate and $4 for a child plate. All take out plates are $8 each. Call (276) 930-2113 to order.

Ross-Harbour United Methodist Church will hold an Easter Egg Hunt. Lunch will be served at 12 p.m., and the egg hunt will follow for those up to age 13.

 

The Ararat Ruritan Club will host its monthly Jackpot Bingo at 6 pm. Cost is $20 for 20 games, coveralls $5 each PLUS door prizes and concessions. Each game pays out $50 with the cover-all payout at $150 if not won within 58 draws. This month’s jackpot is $1,500.00, if the cover-all is won within 58 draws.

Doors open at 5:00 pm, with concessions which include hotdogs, popcorn, nachos, chips, candy, soft drinks and bottled water.  The club building is located at 4711 Ararat Highway in Ararat, VA.

 

Sunday, April 17

The Mountain View Church of God of Prophecy will host an Easter Celebration beginning at 10 a.m. featuring God Can during the 11 a.m. service. Pastor Tom Warren and the congregation invite everyone to attend this time of celebration of our Risen Lord.

 

The Five Forks Wesleyan Church will hold an Easter sunrise service at 6:45 a.m. Everyone is welcome and breakfast will be in the fellowship hall after the service.

 

High Point Baptist Church will hold an Easter Service starting at 7 a.m. The church will hold a breakfast at 8 a.m. and worship at 9 a.m.

Stuart United Methodist Church will hold an Easter Sunrise Service at 7 a.m. (outside, weather permitting). Breakfast follows at 8 a.m. with an Easter Worship Service at 9:45 a.m. All are invited to attend. 

 

Tuesday, April 19

Victory Baptist Church in Fieldale will hold a special singing featuring The Cooper Sisters. All are invited.

 

Thursday, April 21

The Carroll County Genealogy Club will hold its regular scheduled meeting at 6 p.m. at the club on Main Street in Hillsville. If Carroll County schools are closed due to inclement weather the meeting will be postponed.

 

The Ararat Ruritan Club will host a Town Hall Meeting at 70 pm. Brandon Simmons and Rob Martin, who represent the Dan River District on the board of supervisors and school board respectively, will be on hand to discuss what is going on in the county government and school system. The club building is located at 4711 Ararat Highway in Ararat.

 

Friday, April 22

The Woolwine United Church mobile food unit and the Ross Harbour children’s clothing ministry will be at Howell’s Furniture from 3-5 p.m. with free food and clothing.

 

The Patrick Springs Fire Department will hold Bingo with doors opening at 6 p.m. and games starting at 7 p.m. Hotdogs, BBQ,, desserts, and drinks will be available for purchase with proceeds going to help the Peters Creek Baptist Church youth summer camp.

 

Saturday, April 23

The Patrick Henry National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution will have a marker dedication at 2 p.m. in Griffith Valley in Woolwine. A new marker will be dedicated to patriot William McAlexander.

 

Saturday, April 23 & 30

Patrick & Henry Community College (P&HCC) will hold an Action Photography course from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Patrick County site. Pre-registration is required by calling 276-656-5461, or by going to ph.augusoft.net.

 

Wednesday, April 27

Patrick & Henry Community College (P&HCC) will hold an Administrative Professionals Day Luncheon from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the P&HCC Frith Exhibit Hall. The cost is $99 with an early bird discount of $75 for those who register by April 13. The deadline to register is Friday, April 22. Pre-registration is required by going to ph.augosoft.net, or calling 276-656-0260. 

 

Friday, April 29

The PC Youth Sports will host a Bingo and BBQ event at the Rotary Building in Stuart. Food will be available for pick up from 5-6 p.m. and bingo starts at 6 p.m. Bingo is $25 for a play pack and BBQ plates are $12. Pre-orders are available and desserts are available for purchase by calling or texting 276022906573. There will also be a 50/50 raffle, gift cards, and prizes. All of the proceeds go to PC Youth Sports.

 

Saturday, April 30

The Vesta Community Quarter Auction will be held at the Vesta Community Center. Doors open at 5 p.m. and games start at 6 p.m. The event is to help with the upkeep of the Community Center. Concessions by Momma M’s Concessions will be available for purchase.

The Coffee Break Café hosts live music on Tuesdays from 9 to 11 a.m. Bring an instrument, or just come and listen. 

 

The Patrick County Library hosts Story Time with Ms. Sam at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesdays, with books, songs, finger plays, and more. For more information, call the library at (276) 694-3352.

 

The Patrick County Library will hold the LEGO Club with Ms. Sam on Mondays from 4:30-5:30 p.m. This program is mainly intended for school age children. For more information, call the library at (276) 694-3352.

 

Stuart United Methodist Church will offer The Circle of Hands from 1:30-3:30 p.m. the first and third Sunday of every month. If it is a holiday weekend, the meeting will be cancelled. Men and women are invited to attend the new group, which offers an opportunity to fellowship, and bring a project to work on or lean a new craft.

 

Patrick & Henry Community College (P&HCC) will hold a course on using the Fab Lab laser cutter on Tuesdays from April 12 to May 3 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. The cost of the course is $104, which includes all supplies. Pre-registration is required by going to ph.augusoft.net or calling 276-656-5461.
