Sunday, July 24 – Friday, July 29

New Hope Church of the Brethren will hold Vacation Bible School each day from 6-8:15 p.m. Registration will be at 5:45 p.m.

 

Skyview Baptist Church will hold an Appreciation and Celebration Service from 2-4 p.m.

 

Tuesday, July 26 – Friday, July 29

Stuart Baptist Church invites children to Vacation Bible School, held from 6-8 p.m. 

 

Wednesday, July 27

The Patrick County Economic Development Authority (EDA) will meet at 7 p.m. in the Patrick County Administration Office’s third-floor court room.

 

The Patrick & Henry Community College (P&HCC) Stuart site will hold the Patrick County Fab Lab grand opening from 2-3:30 p.m. The event includes the ribbon cutting, a tour, and demonstrations.

 

Thursday, July 28

Friday, July 29

The Stuart Farmer’s Market will have the regular vendors with plenty of zucchini, squash, cucumbers, eggs, meats, coffee, baked items and more. Market open 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. We have vendors that do accept the FARM Fresh for Senior vouchers. Master Gardeners on site with their informational booth to answer all your gardening questions.

 

Saturday, July 30

The Virginia Vintage Comics and Collectibles Show will mark its 25th year anniversary at the Salem Civic Center. The show hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admissions is still a vintage $3 for adults, 12 and under can enter for free. For additional information, call Roger Mannon at 540-320-7056.

 

All relatives and families are invited to the Adkins Family Reunion at the Vesta Community Center from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

 

Sunday, July 31

Peters Creek Baptist Church in Lawsonville, N.C., invites everyone to the 5th Sunday Evening Singing at 7 p.m. for worship and song. 

 

Thursday, Aug. 4

The Russell Creek Community Crime Watch meeting will be at the New Hope United Methodist Church at 7 p.m. Guest speaker will be Law Enforcement Officer Communications/Technology Coordinator Cameron Adkins. 

 

Friday, Aug. 5

The Woolwine Food Truck will be at the Woolwine Volunteer Fire Department from 3-5 p.m.

Saturday, Aug. 6

Providence United Methodist Church will meet at 5 p.m. to celebrate the faithful work of paying for its new educational wing. There will be a special guest, food, and music. Please join the church in celebrating this wonderful occasion. The celebration will start in the new reception hall and move to the picnic shelter, with a special guest, food, music and most important of all, the burning of the note.

 

New Hope Church of the Brethren will hold a Haiti Benefit from 4-7 p.m. A grilled chicken dinner with green beans, corn, roll, dessert, and drink will be sold for $8 a plate.

 

The Meadows of Dan Women’s Club will hold BINGO at the Meadows of Dan Community Center. Doors open at 5 p.m. and games start at 6 p.m. There will also be raffle drawings and food available for purchase. For more information, call 276-952-2674.

 

Stuart Presbyterian Church Vacation Bible School, 309 Staples Avenue, Stuart, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., for ages 4-rising 6th graders. A free cookout lunch will be provided for all the families after the closing at 12 p.m.

 

Wednesday, Aug. 10

The Patrick County Community Food Bank will hold a food distribution day at the Stuart site from 8:30-11 a.m. and from 5-6:30 p.m. There will be a morning distribution in Ararat from 8:30-11 a.m., and an evening distribution in Meadows of Dan from 5-6:30 p.m.

 

Thursday, Aug. 11

John Drawbond, the Veteran’s Benefits Representative will be in Stuart at the Workforce Office. This event is for veterans who would like to see whether they qualify for benefits or medical assistance.  Widows of veterans may want to seek advice of assistance also. This is the first opportunity for this type of service to be held in Stuart. Call and set up an appointment at 434-836-8447.

The Coffee Break Café hosts live music on Tuesdays from 9 to 11 a.m. Bring an instrument, or just come and listen. 

 

The Patrick County Library will hold story time with Ms. Sam at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesdays, with books, songs, finger plays, and more. For more information, call the library at (276) 694-3352.

 

The Patrick County Library will hold the LEGO Club with Ms. Sam on Mondays from 4:30-5:30 p.m. This program is mainly intended for school age children. For more information, call the library at (276) 694-3352.

 

Stuart United Methodist Church will offer The Circle of Hands from 1:30-3:30 p.m. the first and third Sunday of every month. If it is a holiday weekend, the meeting will be cancelled. Men and women are invited to attend the new group, which offers an opportunity to fellowship, and bring a project to work on or lean a new craft.

 

The Patrick County Parks & Recreation Office is accepting soccer registration for the 2022-2023 school year. Students who are 3-14 years of age (7th grade or under) are eligible to participate in the department’s soccer program. Those interested should call the office at 276-694-3917. The deadline for registration is July 30.

 

Patrick Springs Pentecostal Holiness Church will hold Emergency Preparedness classes on Sundays from 4-5 p.m. Topics that will be covered include communications; security and self-defense; food storage; water treatment and storage; needed non-food items; forming a community and more.
