Wednesday, Oct. 26

The Patrick County Economic Development Authority (EDA) will meet at 7 p.m. in the second-floor board room of the Patrick County Administration Building.

 

Events

Friday, Oct. 28

A Trunk or Treat Halloween Fundraiser for Project Alive will be held at 264 Woodland Drive in Stuart from 5:30-9:30 p.m. The vendor fee is $20 and the entry fee for cars is $5 and $10 for trucks. Raffle tickets will be available for $1 each or $7 for a book.

 

Wayside Community Church will hold the annual fall Chili-Cook Off and music starting at 6:30. The guest speaker will be Pastor Curtis Ponder and music will be by the Carter Family. Folks are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs.

 

Annual Fall Chili-Cook Off & Music at Wayside Community Church, 3520 Wayside Rd, Stuart, VA
(just past WHEO radio station) starting 6:30. We are celebrating Fall in the best way: with chili, music, friends and family and special message. The theme will be western – making this a great opportunity for friends & families to dress up, have fun. Guest speaker Pastor Curtis Ponder and Music on the Lawn by Carter Family (please bring a lawn chair). If you want to meet other families at Wayside or you make a mean chili, join the chili cook-off, Pastor Teddy Hiatt and the congregation invite you to bring your best chili recipe to share or simply come visit and enjoy food and fellowship. The winner of the best chili gets a prize.

 

Saturday, Oct. 29

Patrick County Pentecostal Holiness Church will hold a Trunk-or-Treat from 5-7 p.m. The event is free and open to the community. 

 

Ross Harbour Church will hold a Trunk-or-Treat event in the lower parking lot from 4-6 p.m.

Minnie’s Chapel Wesleyan Church will hold a Trunk or Treat from 5:30-8 p.m. A hotdog supper will be available for everyone who comes. Hayrides will be available.  Due to covid concerns, food will be served, rather than buffet style this year. 

 

The Hylton Family will hold a Farewell Concert at the Turman Sports Complex in Willis from 3-6 p.m. Admission is free. For more information, call Sylvia Boyd (540) 267-6772 or (540) 745-3380.

 

High Point Baptist Church will hold a free Community Soup Meal from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will be vegetable-beef soup for dine-in or take-out. Beef-free soup will also be available.

Sunday, Oct. 30

Peters Creek Baptist Church in Lawsonville, NC will have Tony Corner for the 5th Sunday Evening Singing at 7 p.m.

 

Hatchers Chapel United Methodist Church will hold a homecoming. Tina and Herbert Conner will begin singing at 10:30 a.m. and a covered dish lunch will follow the service.

 

Monday, Oct. 31 – Monday, Feb. 27

Patrick & Henry Community College (P&HCC) will hold a Heavy Equipment Operator- Level 1 class from 6-10 p.m. The price is $3,402 or $1,134 FastForward Price. For more information, call (276) 656-0260.

Five Forks Wesleyan Church will hold a Trunk or Treat from 5:30-7 p.m. Everyone is welcome.

 

The Landmark Center Assisted Living will host a Trick-or-Treat for youngsters from 4:30-5:30 p.m.

Creasy’s Chapel United Methodist Church will hold a Trunk-or-Treat from 5:30-8 p.m.

 

Friday, Nov. 4

The Woolwine UMC food truck will be at the Woolwine Volunteer Fire Department from 3-5 p.m.

 

Saturday, Nov. 12

There will be a benefit singing at Sycamore Baptist Church from 6-8 p.m. A love offering will be taken with all proceeds to go help Kentucky flood victims.

 

Ongoing

The Coffee Break Café hosts live music on Tuesdays from 9 to 11 a.m. Bring an instrument, or just come and listen. 

 

The Patrick County Library will hold Story Time with Ms. Sam at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesdays, with books, songs, finger plays, and more. For more information, call the library at (276) 694-3352.

 

The Patrick County Library will hold the LEGO Club with Ms. Sam on Mondays from 4:30-5:30 p.m. This program is mainly intended for school age children. For more information, call the library at (276) 694-3352.

 

The Ararat Ruritan Club hosts virtual raffles on its Facebook page on the first of each month. Various items are raffled off at $10 or $20 per limited chance. There are 30-35 chances on each raffle. The Patrick County Quilters will hold a Sit-N-Sew every Saturday from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Quilted Colors. For more information, call 276-694-3020 or email patrickcountyquilters@gmail.com.

 

The Rock Spring Art Show will be open at the Reynolds Homestead Sept. 12 through Oct. 29. The exhibit is open Monday-Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on Sundays from 1-4 p.m.

 

The Stuart Elementary School Running Club will hit the pavements along the sidewalks in town on Mondays and Wednesdays from 3:30-4:30 p.m.

 

Ross Harbour Church will be collecting pennies for “The Penny House” Tuesdays from 4-6 p.m. and on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. during October.

 

The Stuart United Methodist Church will offer The Circle of Hands from 1:30-3:30 p.m. the first and third Sunday of every month. If it is a holiday weekend, the meeting will be canceled. Everyone is invited to attend the new group, which offers an opportunity to fellowship, and bring a project to work on or learn a new craft.
