The Stuart DMV Select Office will be closed for the Juneteenth holiday.
The Community Food Truck will be at the Fairystone VFD from 3-4 p.m.
Ross-Harbour Methodist Church, 6260 Elamsville Road, will hold a free community meal from 4 to 6 p.m.
Stuart Farmers’ Market is open from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m., with a selection of vegetables, fresh eggs, broccoli, honey, cabbage, knitted items, homemade soaps, jewelry, coffee, plants and much more. The Rise and Shine Youth Market will be on site with all sorts of great items handmade by our local youth.
The Reynolds Homestead will host a Juneteenth Freedom Celebration from 12 to 5 p.m. Participants can tour the historic home and kitchen, visit the tobacco barn, cemetery for the enslaved community, rock spring and the community engagement center where they will have an opportunity to review research about the men, women, and children who were enslaved on the plantation and create a cornhusk doll, a popular toy for enslaved children. The Patrick County Alzheimer’s Group LLC will host a benefit for Sally and James Smith from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Hooker Building in Stuart, with entertainment by Southern Prophets and barbecue plates. The plates cost $20 each and include barbecue, side dishes and dessert. All proceeds got to care of the Smiths.
Tuesday, June 23
The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) in conjunction with design-build contractor Triton Construction, Inc. will hold a “Pardon Our Dust” public information meeting for upcoming roadwork for the Vesta Project on U.S. 58 in Patrick County, 4 to 6 p.m., Meadows of Dan Elementary School Gymnasium, 3003 Jeb Stuart Highway in Meadows of Dan. Parking will be available in the upper playground parking lot.
The Stuart Evening Farmers’ Market opens from 5 to 8 p.m., with fresh produce and hand crafted items.
The Stuart DMV Select Office will be closed for year-end inventory.

A free community picnic and bluegrass jam will be held at Dominion Valley Park, with barbecue and all the fixings served from 4-7 p.m. The event is being sponsored in part by the Dan River District Ruritans and friends of the Moorefield Store area.

The Patrick County VA250 celebration will be held at the William Letcher Gravesite, an American Patriot of the Revolutionary War at 221 Letcher Lane at 6 p.m. Revolutionary War Reenactors will be present, a cannon will be fired, and Tom Perry will speak about Letcher.
Saturday, July 4
Bluegrass and old time music competition at the Vesta Community Center, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Competition categories include banjo, fiddle, guitar, mandolin, bands, vocals, and flat footing with three competition levels of children, teen, and adult. People should bring their own lawn chairs. Concessions will be available for sale.

The United Daughters of the Confederacy will hold a special program form the 130th anniversary celebration of Mildred Lee Chapter 74, Virginia Division at the Martinsville-Henry County Heritage Museum, 1 East Main St., Martinsville, starting at 10:30 a.m.
