The Stuart Farmers’ Market is now open for on-site shopping on Fridays 8 a.m. to noon. No sales before 8 a.m. Vendors are transitioning into the summer months, with seasonal vegetables like cucumbers, tomatoes, corn, beans and plenty more. To add to your fresh veggies, vendors also have baked items, coffee, honey, lavender, meats and eggs and crafts. Stay up to date with Stuart Farmers’ Market Facebook page.

 

July 29:

Blood Drive at Meadows of Dan Community Center, 2858 JEB Stuart Highway, Meadows of Dan, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

 

August

Vacation Bible School – Minnie’s Chapel Wesleyan Church – Aug. 1; ages 2-12. Registration begins at 8:45 a.m.  Bible school will be held from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.  The theme is ‘Anchored.’ There will be a hotdog supper and program on Sunday, Aug. 2 beginning at 6 p.m.

 

Vacation Bible School — Mission: Deep Sea, Aug. 8 from 3 to 7 p.m. Classes for children and adults held in small group settings while maintaining social distancing. Patrick Springs Pentecostal Holiness Church, 260 Spring Road, Patrick Springs, VA. Registration is available on facebook.com/psphc.

 

Fundraising Meal – New Hope Church of the Brethren, Aug. 8, from 4 to 7 p.m., barbeque chicken plate, $8. Drive thru service only. Proceeds to benefit orphan girls in Mare-rouge Haiti.

 

Bookmobile Schedule

The Patrick County Branch Library’s Bookmobile will resume operations and offer trunk-side only service until further notice at the locations, dates and times listed below:

Wednesday, July 29:

Ararat Fellowship Church, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Trinity Christian School, 1:30 to 3 p.m.

Thursday, July 30:

Wildwood Acres (off Virginia 694), 11 to 11:30 a.m.;

Hardin Reynolds Memorial School, noon to 12:30 p.m.;

Hardin Reynolds Road (Ramey’s) 12:35 to 12:50 p.m.;

Patrick Henry Volunteer Fire Station, 1 to 2 p.m.

Salem United Methodist Church, 2:15 to 3:15 p.m.

4th weekend of the month: C&J Signs (Woolwine), Meadows of Dan Elementary School, Moorefield Store Volunteer Fire Department

5th weekend of the month: No recycling
