The Mountain Home Masonic Lodge is selling whole cooked Boston butts for $30 per. The pick-up date is Saturday, Sept. 19, at the Mountain Home Masonic Lodge #263, 111 Buena Vista Ave, Stuart, VA, 24171. Barn Quilt Blessings will host a Labor Day Weekend Barn Quilt Extravaganza at the Blue Ridge Real Estate- Blue Ridge Cabin Rentals. Hand-drawn and painted barn quilts of a variety of sizes and patterns will be sold.

 

Peters Creek Baptist Church, Labor Day Weekend Yard Sale, 6561 Hwy 8 in Lawsonville, N.C., held as a fundraiser for the Youth Group to go to summer camp.

 

Sept. 8

Red Cross Blood Drive, Rotary Field in Stuart, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.  Sponsored by Rogers Realty.

The Red Cross suggests that before donating, drink plenty of water and get a lot of rest. Wearing a mask is important and temperatures will be taken before entering the building. Blood donations are always needed, especially now.

 

Saturday, Sept. 12

Patrick Henry Community College will host an Introduction to Photography class led by Rick Dawson, a certified professional photographer. The class will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. with a break from noon to 1 p.m. The class costs $60 and pre-registration is required by calling 276-656-5461 or visiting ph.augusoft.net

Saturday, Sept. 26

The Patrick County Demolition Derby will be held at the Rotary Field Amphitheater starting at 7 p.m. Tickets cost $10 in cash at the gate. Children 12 and under get in for free.

The Mountain Valley Hospice Alzheimer’s Support Group meets on the first Tuesday of each month from 6-7 p.m. Meetings are held virtually due to COVID-19. Mountain Valley Hospice hosts a virtual caregiver support group the first Thursday of each month at 1 and 6 p.m. The support group is for families dealing with serious illness, such as cancer, Alzheimer’s, congestive heart failure, or COPD.
