WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 23

HOMEWORK ASSISTANCE: free homework assistance for all elementary school children. Bring your textbooks and homework assignments, help provided by Dolores Nolan (a retired elementary and special education teacher), 3 to 5 p.m., Patrick County Branch Library, West Blue Ridge Street, Stuart.

 

FRIDAY, JANUARY 25

VERA BRADLEY BINGO: doors open at 6 p.m., concessions available and games begin at 7 p.m., $25 buys 60 cards with 3 cards per game, 2 coveralls and 1 door prize. Spencer-Penn Centre, 475 Spencer-Penn Road, Spencer.

 

SATURDAY, JANUARY 26

ROADSIDE CLEANUP: cleanup along Goose Point Road (Rt. 822) from Virginia 57 into Goose Point Campground on Philpott Lake. In addition to roadside litter, there is a large tire dump along the right side of the road. 9 a.m. to noon, roadside focus will begin at 10 a.m. Meet at 4780 Goosepoint Road, Bassett at 9 a.m.

POOR MAN’S SUPPER: pinto beans and all the fixings, cornbread, slaw, onions, chow chow, cheese, sour cream, drink and dessert. $8 from 4 to 7 p.m., proceeds benefit community projects, Mountain Home, Masonic Lodge #263, 111 Buena Vista Avenue, Stuart.

PRESCHOOL IN THE GALLERIES: series of programs for pre-K students designed to foster a love of the performing and visual arts at a young age. Performances are free of charge to students and schools. HOE-DOWN/POOR MAN’S SUPPER: free admission, music provided by friends of the fire department, poor man’s supper available for purchase: pinto beans, mashed potatoes, slaw, cornbread, and drink, $6 a plate, desserts also available for purchase, 5 to 8 p.m., Woolwine Volunteer Fire Department, 9912 Woolwine Highway, Woolwine.
