FRIDAY, JUNE 1-SUNDAY, JUNE 3

MOTORCYCLE BASIC RIDER COURSE: learn to ride a motorcycle and be prepared for state licensing, class provides classroom and actual motorcycle operator training in controlled range conditions; learn basic operation skills such as effective breaking, cornering, obstacle avoidance, safe street riding strategies; manual provided, motorcycles provided or participants use their own; cost $100; register by calling 276-656-5461; Friday 6-9:30 p.m.; Sat. and Sun. 8 a.m.-4 p.m., Patrick Henry Community College.

 

FRIDAY, JUNE 1

STUART FARMERS’ MARKET: tool sharpening w/fee; library, Reynolds Homestead cooking demo, fruits, vegetables, homemade baked items, meats, eggs, goat cheese; 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., Stuart.

SPAGHETTI SUPPER: spaghetti, salad, garlic bread, homemade desserts and drink; vegetarian sauce available (ask for it); adult plates $8; children’s plates (under 12) $3.50; extra desserts $1.50; eat in or take out; 50/50 raffle; all proceeds go to maintain the property: for local delivery call June at 634-6002; 4 to 7 p.m., Dobyns Community Center, 1195 Rye Cove Creek Rd, Stuart.

 

SATURDAY, JUNE 2

COUNTRY BREAKFAST: bacon, eggs, pancakes, grits, biscuits, apples, gravy, sausage, coffee. Donations only, all proceeds go toward the community building roof and repairs, 7 to 10 a.m., Francisco Community Building, 7104 North Carolina 89 Hwy W. Fransico, N.C.

COUNTRY BREAKFAST: country ham, sausage, bacon, eggs, homemade biscuits, gravy, pancakes, and more; donations, 7 to 10 a.m., Willis Gap Community Center, 144 The Hollow Rd., Ararat.

HOTDOG SUPPER: menu also includes baked beans, chips, desserts, and drinks; donations will be accepted; 5 p.m.; Concord United Methodist Church, 1497 Concord Church Rd, Stuart.

BENEFIT RIDE: for Linda Fain, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., live music – Swift Creek at 11 a.m. and The Joyful Noise coleslaw, baked beans, chips, and beverage for $7, carry out available; bike ride $10 per bike, car or truck, register during event, ride out at 3 p.m., for more information call Angela at (276) 389-6369, Chris or Crystal at (276) 930-4276, or Scott at (276) 229-6994, Hooker Building, Rotary Field, Stuart.

THURSDAY, JUNE 7

WHARTON-STUART CAMP SONS OF CONFEDERATE VETERANS MEETING: those interested in joining can attend, 7 p.m., Reynolds Homestead.

 

FRIDAY, JUNE 8

STUART FARMERS’ MARKET: Pete and Cindy with friends providing music, PC Master Gardeners with info on native habitat awareness, seasonal fruits, vegetables, homemade baked items, meats, eggs, goat cheese, 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., Stuart.

SMITH REUNION: descendents of Joseph Henry and Hannah (Smith) Smith, friends are also welcome, business meeting 12:30 p.m., lunch 1 p.m., Francisco Community Building, on Hwy 89.

 

THURSDAY, JUNE 14

PATRICK COUNTY SENIORS MEETING: entertainment by One Accord; bring a favorite dish to share; for information on upcoming Patrick County Senior events and trips call the Patrick County Recreation Department at 694-3917; 11 a.m., John D. Hooker Building, Rotary Field, Stuart.

 

FRIDAY, JUNE 15

DINNER: fried fish or chicken patty, slaw, french fries, hush puppies, dessert, beverage, 4 to 7 p.m., donation basis, proceeds are for India church building project, Patrick Springs Pentecostal Holiness Church, 261 Spring Rd, Patrick Springs.

VIRGINIA COVERED BRIDGE FESTIVAL: free admission, variety of live music, mule and horse drawn wagon rides, 5K run, historical presentations, artisan, craft and food vendors; duck race in river, entertainment for children, hosted by Woolwine residents, Woolwine Volunteer Fire Department and Smith River Rescue Squad, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., for vendor spaces or additional information, call (276) 930-2670 or visit www.visitpatrickcounty.org; near Jacks Creek Covered Bridge and site of former Bob White Bridge, Woolwine.
