THURSDAY, JUNE 7

WHARTON-STUART CAMP SONS OF CONFEDERATE VETERANS MEETING: those interested in joining can attend, 7 p.m., Reynolds Homestead.

PAINTING WITH ED GOWEN: 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m., learn to paint an original oil painting, all supplies provided, register prior to class, subject: hibiscus, $75 member, $85 non-member, Piedmont Arts, 215 Starling Avenue, Martinsville.

 

FRIDAY, JUNE 8

STUART FARMERS’ MARKET: Pete and Cindy with friends providing music, PC Master Gardeners with info on native habitat awareness, seasonal fruits, vegetables, homemade baked items, meats, eggs, goat cheese, 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., Stuart.

ROOK/MUSIC: rook 8:30 a.m., music by Jim Philpott, Tim Stegall and friends 10 a.m. to noon, breakfast  $5 and lunch $6 available, HJDB event center, Bassett.

3-WHEEL/SIDECAR BASIC RIDER COURSE: learn basic skills of 3-wheel motorcycle operation, effective breaking, cornering, obstacle avoidance, and safe street-riding strategies; motorcycles are provided or participants can use their own; Friday 6 to 9:30 p.m., Sat. & Sun. 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., cost $100, Patrick Henry Community College, Martinsville.

 

SATURDAY, JUNE 9

80TH ANNIVERSARY: Meadows of Dan Women’s Club open house, 2 to 4 p.m., refreshments will be served, scrapbooks and pictures on display, for more information call Mary Locke at (276) 952-6395 or Betty Banks at (276) 952-2674, Meadows of Dan Community Center.

ANGIE’S BIKE RIDE: Register at 10 a.m., leave at 11 a.m., lunch at Big Walker’s Mountain; $15.00 per bike/car, Alzheimer’s Office, 125 Buena Vista Ave, Stuart.

MOONSHINE HERITAGE CAR SHOW: third annual show, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., more than 60 cars that either have a moonshine hauling history or were the type of vehicle used, free admission, Bowling’s Place Hotdogs and Daylight Donuts will be on site, “run” from Ferrum to Twin Creeks Distillery 2 to 4 p.m., all cars have to be pre-registered. VIRGINIA COVERED BRIDGE FESTIVAL: free admission, variety of live music, mule and horse drawn wagon rides, 5K run, historical presentations, artisan, craft and food vendors; duck race in river, entertainment for children, hosted by Woolwine residents, Woolwine Volunteer Fire Department and Smith River Rescue Squad, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., for vendor spaces or additional information, call (276) 930-2670 or visit www.visitpatrickcounty.org; near Jacks Creek Covered Bridge and site of former Bob White Bridge, Woolwine.

JEB STUART RESCUE’S COMMUNITY BREAKFAST: pancakes, sausage, gravy, biscuits, bacon, juice and coffee, 7 to 10 a.m., JEB Stuart volunteer rescue squad, 1258 American Legion Rd, Stuart.
