VOLUNTEERS NEEDED: Wednesday: apple peeling for the Woolwine October festival, 8 a.m. until, lunch provided. Thursday: apple butter making 4 a.m., fried apple pie making 8:30 a.m., lunch provided. Friday: making apple butter. Woolwine Volunteer Fire Department.

FARMERS MARKET: Market bag raffle, Martinsville Health Coalition conducting blood pressure checks; locally grown produce, fruit, meats, eggs, baked items, and more; 8 a.m. to noon, Stuart Farmers Market.

MUSIC NIGHT: music, dancing, and food; doors open at 5 p.m., open mic at 5:30 p.m., Don Smith and the Foggy River Boys at 6:20 p.m., Jason Harris and Friends to follow. OCTOBER FESTIVAL: music provided by Friday Night Band, The Hutchens and Rock Castle Ramblers. Music, dancing, apple butter sale, crafts. Food: ham plates, hot dogs, fried apple pies, bake sale, beverages.10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Woolwine Volunteer Fire Department, 9912 Woolwine Highway, Woolwine.

48TH ANNUAL LORD’S ACRE SALE: food, baked goods, crafts, homemade treasures available, doors open at 7 a.m.; auction beginning at 10 a.m., Nelson Autos will donate a vehicle to the auction, music provided, Rotary Field, Stuart.

VERA BRADLEY BINGO: doors open at 6 p.m., games begin at 7 p.m., $25 buys 60 cards with 3 cards per game, 2 coveralls, 1 door prize, concessions available, Spencer-Penn Centre, 475 Spencer-Penn Road, Spencer.

HALLOWEEN CARNIVAL: dinner at 5:30 p.m., games begin at 6 p.m., costume contest in the gym, concessions, disco room, cake walk, fun slide, moon jump, sand art necklaces and tattoos.
