What if you could adopt a raised bed ready to grow your own vegetables and flowers?
What if there was a place where you could pick free produce for your family?
Would you like to join others in learning how to plant and grow your own produce?
Would you like a garden where you can spend some quiet time just being among the flowers and vegetables or getting your hands dirty playing in the soil?
Providence United Methodist Church in Patrick Springs and the Patrick County Master Gardener Association have come together in partnership to create just such a place for you. The church has provided the space for the gardens, and the Virginia Extension Master Gardeners have provided the knowledge. Together, with the help of the community, the gardens have been and are still being built.
Community gardens are shared spaces where people come together to grow fruits, vegetables, and flowers, creating both environmental and social benefits. They transform unused land into productive green areas, helping to improve local food access and promote healthier lifestyles. Beyond providing fresh produce, community gardens foster a sense of connection by bringing neighbors together, encouraging teamwork, and strengthening community bonds. They also serve as educational spaces where people of all ages can learn about sustainability, gardening techniques, and the importance of caring for the environment. Community gardens play a valuable role in building more resilient, vibrant, and connected communities.
The Community Fellowship Learning Garden has three components: the garden itself, the learning programs presented by the Master Gardeners, and the fellowship on Wednesday evenings with the Master Gardeners in the gardens. All of this is free for anyone who would like to grow their own food and learn more about gardening.
There are raised beds of differing heights, some wheelchair accessible, in ground beds, and beds just the right height for children.
You are invited to adopt a bed for yourself and your family or help with a community bed. Meet fellow gardeners and share the enjoyment of raising food and beautiful flowers together. These gardens are made possible through the partnership of Providence United Methodist Church and the Patrick County Master Gardeners.

Community, fellowship, and learning through the wisdom of an established community are vital components of our collective and individual health and wellbeing. Creating community builds meaningful connections among people who share a common space, interest, or purpose. Vibrant communities are often formed through shared experiences. The gift of fellowship within community fosters relationships that bloom and flourish for the good of self and community. A community that grows together learns together as individuals share their life experiences. Community is a place where people grow in relationships feeling a true sense of belonging. We hope to grow a vibrant and meaningful community at the Providence Community Fellowship Learning Garden.
