The Piedmont District Golf Tournament was hosted by Patrick County High School at Olde Mill Golf Club last Monday; the Bassett Bengals won the championship with a score of 301. Franklin County was second with 317, followed by Halifax, Patrick County and Magna Vista.
The Cougars shot a 350 with Jake Martin leading the Cougars shooting an 83. Jarrod Burnette shot an 87, followed by Wesley Diggs at 88 and Daniel Smith at 92.
Thursday, the Cougars hosted Abingdon for a conference match at Olde Mill, losing to the Falcons 309-342.
Jake Martin shot 79 with Wesley Diggs shooting an 86. Nate Scott carded an 88 and Evan Hopkins scored a 90.
“We are playing well—we just need to work on our approach shots and short game as we get closer to the conference tournament,” Coach Philip Steagall said.
The Cougars played a Conference 32 match at Auburn Hills Tuesday with Christiansburg hosting the event. The Conference 32 Tournament will be held Monday, September 26, at Hidden Valley Country Club.
