The Cougars lost last Friday to GW Danville 48-40. The team’s four Seniors– Darius Hagwood, Josh Cockram, Frankie LaComa, and Garrett Worley were honored before the game, and scored 31 of the team’s 40 points.

The game was a defensive struggle from beginning to end. LaComa scored the Cougars’ first points of the game at 2-2, A late layup by Worley cut the score to 8-9 going in the second quarter. GW went on a 6-0 run before DeAndre Reynolds scored on a drive to the basket that make it 11-17 GW. Worley scored a back to back jumper, which cut the lead to 15-19. Another 6-0 by GW made the score 15-25 going into halftime.

Cockram, Reynolds, Hagwood, and Worley all scored on jumpers early in the third quarter and Cougars had life trailing by four points. However, GW jumped to a 39-27 lead early in the fourth quarter, and the Cougars trailed by double digits through most of the quarter. Before making a final rally that cut the lead to six points, the Cougars never got closer as time ran out on their would-be comeback.

Worley had a team-high 14 points. Hagwood had 9 points, and Reynolds added 8 points.

The Cougars are 6-16 for the season.
