With three minutes and some change left on the clock, the Cougars scored, putting them ahead of Halifax by 4. It looked like Patrick County would take the win on Homecoming Night, but Halifax wasn’t ready to concede.

The opposing team scored on the next drive, putting them ahead.

With little more than a minute left, the Cougar receiver fumbled the reception, and Halifax took advantage, and another Comet touchdown sealed the 32-42 loss for the Cougars.

Defensively, the Cougars were led by Josh Wright, who had 7 tackles and 1 fumble recovery; Sam Hubbard with 6 tackles, Ben Hylton with 5 tackles and an interception, and Peyton Cambron with 5 tackles.

Tycarius Yelock, Triston Underwood, and TJ Wimbush all had 3 tackles each.

Josh Dalton, Jaheim Johnson, Krish Patel, Payton Stovall, and Cameron White all had 2 tackles each. Jai Penn and Hunter Tankersley each had 1 tackle.

Leading the way for the Cougars on offense were Demontez Hill, with 45 yards on 14 carries as well as four two-point conversions, Peyton Cambron with 110 yards on 13 carries and a touchdown, Tycarius Yellock with 115 yards on 18 carries and two touchdowns, and Ben Hylton with 122 yards on 15 carries with one touchdown. The Cougars will be back in action next Friday night at Martinsville.
